At Isle® of Capri Casinos, we believe in being good neighbors. This means, in addition to donating funds and support services to community groups, we also encourage our employees to be actively involved in the communities in which we operate. Our company founder, the late Bernard Goldstein, felt so strongly about community spirit that we launched Community Aces®, our charitable giving and volunteer program, honoring his legacy.
Lady Luck Casino Caruthersville Community Aces® are committed to helping our neighbors. We make a difference in our community in a variety of ways, including financial and in-kind donations, as well as volunteer hours.
Caruthersville Humane Society
The Community Aces worked very hard encouraging employees, family, and friends to vote for the Caruthersville Humane Society in the first annual Community Aces Challenge. The 501(c)(3) charity received a grant of $15,000. This project was a wonderful partnering of the Community Aces and a local organization.
Highway Clean Up
The Community Aces have a section of Highway 84 that they have pledged to keep clean. This is one of the main routes into the City of Caruthersville and the casino employees want to make certain that the visitors to the casino have a favorable first impression as they drive into town.
Humane Society 5K Run
We participated in a 5K run to benefit the Humane Society as well as sponsoring an employee “jeans day.” One of our favorite projects was spending time with the animals, so that they were socialized before adoption.
Alex's Lemonade Stand
Fighting Childhood Cancer, One Cup at a Time
The Community Aces set up an old fashioned Lemonade Stand, selling delicious lemonade to our guests as well as our employees. All of the proceeds went to help with Childhood Cancer research. A check for $1,000 was sent to the Alex’s Lemonade Foundation.
Fans For the Elderly
The employees of Lady Luck held a “jeans day” to raise money to purchase fans for donation to at risk elderly citizens in the community . With the help of matching funds from Lady Luck, $800 was raised. Forty box fans were purchased locally and given to the local nutrition center for distribution to clients through the Meals on Wheels Program.
Day of Hope
Community Aces at Lady Luck Casino Caruthersville are actively involved with the Day of Hope Food Pantry. Each month, this outreach program makes a Food Pantry available for those in need within the surrounding communities. Last December almost 5,000 food items were donated by our employees to the Day of Hope.
Neighbor Helping Neighbor
An elderly resident that was confined to a wheelchair was unable to work in her yard. It had been at least 10 years since anyone had been in the backyard. She was in violation of several city ordinances, and yet the city knew she was unable to correct the problems. For two months and many visits, our community aces cleaned, trimmed, and cut. One of our dealers owns a tree service and he brought his entire crew and all of their equipment.
