Springtime in Southeast Missouri
Spring has sprung in southeast Missouri. At the Lady Luck® Caruthersville Casino we couldn't be more thrilled to get outside and enjoy the warm weather! Here are some activities to keep you outside in the Missouri sunshine this spring.
1. Cave Spring Park's Light Speed Zip Lines
For an adrenaline rush, check out Cave Spring Park's Light Speed Zip Lines. Soar through trees at 60 feet in the air on one of the three courses designed for adults and older kids. If zip lining isn't your thing, Cave Spring Park also has cave tours and a fossil museum for geology enthusiasts. The park is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., May through September.
2. Huzzah Valley Resort's Float Trips
Blooming redbuds and dogwood trees make springtime ideal to visit the Huzzah Valley Resort. In addition to horseback riding and hiking trails, the camping and RV-friendly resort offers float trips down the Huzzah, Courtois, and the Meramec Rivers. The resort's dining lodge even delivers pizza and hot wings to your camping site, making it even easier to sit back and relax.
3. Ozark National Scenic Riverways Park
America's first congressionally designated national park for the preservation of a wild river system, the Ozark National Scenic Riverways Park is an outdoor dream. Explore more than 80,000 acres around the spring fed Current and Jacks Fork Rivers. When you're done canoeing, swimming, or fishing, check out one of the 300 caves and natural springs. There's plenty to do all spring long in Ozark National Scenic Riverways Park.
4. Cape Splash Family Aquatic Center
For those especially hot days, cool off at the Cape Splash Family Aquatic Center. The center covers 3.5 acres of waterpark excitement to include a 265-foot free-fall slide and 259-foot-long triple drop slide. Gently float down the 700-foot lazy river or splash around in the vortex swirl pool. Dry off and enjoy a quick lunch under one of the 23 Funbrellas before going on your favorite slides again. The center is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
5. Mississippi River Hills Wine Trail
If you're in the mood for vineyard visits, try out the Mississippi River Hills Wine Trail. The 40-mile stretch is easily accessible from U.S. Interstate 55 and U.S. Highway 61. Once on the wine trail, stops include Apple Creek in Friedheim, The Barrens in Perryville, Hemman in Brazeau, and Hunter Valley in Cape Girardeau. The wine trail makes a great bridal shower activity for all those upcoming summer weddings.
